Welcome to the Optimalist.

By davidschapiro

Several years ago the company I manage set out to “go where no venture had gone before” and offer the Financial Services industry a price optimization software platform. At the time we were met with puzzlement and misunderstanding, but economic common sense eventually prevailed and today Earnix serves several scores of large financial services clients.

In this same pioneering spirit I’d now like to welcome you to the very first Web-log dedicated to price optimization and customer value in the financial services.

Price Optimization is a controversial topic in any industry, even more so in an established industry like Financial Services. At one extreme – Price Optimization is a win-lose situation where the vendor understands the price sensitivity of the customer, and offers the maximal price that the customer will agree upon. On the other – if we understand the needs of our customers, then we are able to offer them products and services that meet their needs, and at prices that are in synch with the value received, leading to a win-win situation – this is our goal at Earnix.

This blog aims to spark a candid and insightful discussion on how to better understand consumer needs in the financial services industry, and how develop and price products and services that meet these needs in an ongoing fashion.

This forum is open to industry figures, analysts, practitioners, consultants, virtually anyone who is able and willing to contribute to the ongoing refinement of this exciting new practice.
